Pressure Protection
Pressure Safety Valve (PSV)
A self-actuated mechanical device that opens at a defined pressure to protect equipment or piping from overpressure.
Why it matters
PSVs are a final mechanical protection layer and must be understood in relation to blocked-in liquid, thermal expansion, fire cases and flare or vent routing.
