Commissioning
Inerting
The displacement or dilution of oxygen-containing atmosphere with an inert gas such as nitrogen to reduce flammability risk before hydrocarbon introduction.
Why it matters
Inerting is a core commissioning and maintenance control, but nitrogen also creates oxygen-deficiency hazards.
